Port Barre woman struck by car, killed on Gloria Switch Road
A Port Barre woman died Friday night when she stepped into the path of an oncoming car on Gloria Switch Road, Lafayette Police reported. Linda Gould, 52, was walking by the roadway at around 11:00 p.m. when she suddenly walked into the path of a Chevrolet sedan, which slammed into her and threw her to the south of the roadway, said Cpl.

Port Barre to host inaugural winter market in December
Port Barre will host its inaugural Bayou Tech Tinsel and Treasure Holiday Market from 6 a.m. to noon over three weekends in December. On Dec. 6-7, 13-14 and 20-21, the Port Barre Veteran's Memorial Park at 138 Park St., will have a host of vendors selling everything from baked goods to seasonal crafts.

A Port Barre man died Saturday night after he steered his ATV into a ditch and was thrown from the vehicle, State Police said. Lance Lomas, 28, was on U.S. 190 near Bayou Road in St. Landry Parish, driving on the westbound shoulder, Master Trooper Brooks David said Sunday in a news release.
